The End of a 15 Year Relationship

I am someone who chooses carefully what I share with the world via my site, blog, etc. I personally frown upon TOO MUCH information from a Mistress being out there as I feel it only serves to kill a lot of the fantasy built up about her. Sometimes one makes an exception to those rules. This is such a time.

Today my pet of 16 years died. His name was Chuckie and he was one of my cats. I've never own an animal that long (in my adult life at least), and he meant a lot to me. I adopted him from the Santa Clara SPCA in 1991 as an adult cat. I chose him because he was going to be euthanized at the end of the day and I didn't think he deserved to die just yet.

From the get go, Chuckie was THE best behaved cat I have ever personally dealt with. Yes, he could be annoying as he aged, but he was ALWAYS well-behaved. He was friendly ( sometimes to a fault, like when a neighbor in my apartment building decided he was HER cat), and he kept me company during some difficult times in my life. I've been in the Bay Area since 1989, so Chuckie was the living being who saw me go from student to Dominatrix. He made an impression (literally and figuratively) on those he met--or maybe just some fur...

I'm a little down about his death, but I'm also happy this his suffering his over. This past week has been rough watching him fade from life. I'm just happy he stuck around until after I returned from Europe. Thanks Chuckie. Your good behavior has extended to even your death.

To anyone considering getting a cat in the future, I highly recommend adopting from an animal shelter. I KNOW that Chuckie was always grateful to me for doing that for him. Your cat will be too.
