Folsom Street Fair: Women's Only Section?

I got the word not that long ago that there is going to be a new "women's only area" at the next Folsom Street Fair. Now don't get me wrong, one of the reasons why I still have a membership at one of the smelliest gyms on the planet ( does any YMCA NOT smell?), is because it has a Women's Fitness Center. Sorry guys but when I work out, I'd prefer to be among my own kind. However, for any other activity I'm involved in with the general public, I accept that fact that both genders are going to be present.

Now didn't Folsom start out as a gay men's leather event? It's not like there is a "men only" section now--oh but wait--we can't have anything that is MEN'S ONLY these days, except for restrooms that is. I mean there are LOTS of men there: hot, leather-clad men with big muscles and leather and mustaches and leather and THEY ARE GAY ( at least the best looking ones are). You know what ladies? Most of the men at Folsom could give a crap about you. I know that I will be AVOIDING the women's only area. I'm sure there is going to be SO MUCH bitching in there, crankiness of the highest order, and in general non-cheerful women who the rest of the crowd is going to be wondering about. Why do THEY get their own special area? Why do the WOMEN have to be segregated? What's so special about THEM?

Yes, why do you NEED to have a separate area at Folsom? If you don't like crowds, heat, did I mention crowds, and a long walk back to the car/Bart/pick your method of transportation home, then DON'T GO TO THE FOLSOM STREET FAIR. If you don't like men, DON'T GO TO THE FOLSOM STREET FAIR. If you're afraid of being touched by perfect strangers, REPEAT AFTER ME: DON'T GO TO THE FOLSOM STREET FAIR. If you want to stick around other women in leather, then there are PLENTY of groups that cater to that particular thing. I think that is wonderful. Everyone in the BDSM community has their own little group that they can feel safe in when they go to a party catering to their ilk. Folsom isn't about that. It's about walking around in the most uncomfortable clothing known to man, in heels that are too high for your own good, with body parts being exposed on more folks than you ever thought could figure out how to have flesh hanging out, getting sunburned, being too warm, and trying to find a place to cool off and check out that new flogger/paddle/penis sheath you purchased an hour before you felt light-headed from the heat. Think of going to the county fair--minus all the damned strollers, add better vendors, better music, Carnies in leather and you have Folsom. It's a spectacle. It's NOT about "I don't like being around you so I'm going to go over HERE."

Yes, I realize I'm going to piss off someone with this entry, but that's what I'm good at. I'm already vilified within the BDSM Community because I happen to accept money for doing what I enjoy. I can't possibly sink any lower then being accused of only caring about how people look (which anyone who knows me thinks is ridiculous). What do I have to lose? They won't let me in at the "Girls Clubhouse" at Folsom? Fine with me. I'll do what I've been doing since I was a kid and hang with the boys, thank you very much!
